Senator Barry Goldwater (R-AZ) must be rolling in his grave. The conservative Republican senator from Arizona ran for President in 1964 on a platform condemning "Big Government". As a kid, I read Goldwater's "Conscience of a Conservative" and came away with a strong conviction that America was founded on the principle of individual freedom, and that no matter what the perceived threat was, internal or external, American citizens should beware of "trusting the government" rather than upholding our rights as individuals. Hi,
Thanks for my previous response. I am on H1B and between projects. I have an offer to work for a couple of days for a company other than the one holding my H1B. They said they are not gonna report to the IRS as its an hourly job for 2 days and the number of hours are not going to accumulate enough for the IRS. But they need my SSN or tax-payer ID to run their payroll. I am gonna receive my dues as a simple check (like a rebate check with just the total amount showing up & NOT a paystub). Please let me know if I can work for them or not.

So I'm in need of an answer for my parents.
They have their green card and have been out of the United States for a little less than 6 months now visiting their homeland. They will be returning in a week but due to a medical circumstance that has happened with my mother overseas, she would need to go back to their homeland so she can acquire her medications and chemotherapy there. What is the minimum amount of time they would have to stay here in the United States until they can go back to their homeland?
I know you can stay out of U.S. for no more than 6 months or their green cards make be revoked, I understand that part but I'm curious if there is a minimum amount of time they'd have to stay here in the Unites States before they can go back overseas so it doesn't look bad when they go through immigration.

Can I apply for EAD for spouse on the basis of I-140 approval? I can not file I-485 due to retrogression and he is running out of her H1B visa limit.
