U r a senior member and asking this question? Anyways...here's some of the points I think that are candidates for Red/Green:
Candidates for Red:
1. Using third class language
2. Unnecessary and stupid arguments
3. Narrow minded comments
4. Immature thinking
Candidates for Green:
1. Valid and logical thought process
2. No foul language whatsoever
3. Politeness
4. Likable comments
What's hyappening with ssnd's comments is...instead of getting red for all of his filthy comments, somebody is giving him green. God bless IV.

if all you wanted was a large tv, car, house you could have it anywhere in the world. is that all you came to America for ? is that why you walked the line for years ? if you just wanted a laid back existence you could forget the gc and relax in Tanzania. i think you just desperately want to believe you already have it all. good for you. but then why so perturbed if someone disturbs your illusions... no ... your reality ?
people come to America out of a hunger for limitless opportunities.
many people rightly feel they could do give back much more to this country if they had their freedom. sorry if you're not one of them. after you get your gc you might just vegetate for the rest of your life with the material comforts you've gathered.

the biggest irony of course is that what actually defines america is in in fact ... immigration! a breaking away from the mold of artificial bureaucratic limitations of the old world.
but as they say - be careful what you wish for - that may be exactly what you get.
to the original poster: your question is unnecessarily posed in the negative. a better question would be, what does American gain from recent immigration ? a hint. the answer is not mortgages or uscis receipt fees.

I think it will be based on the receipt date because if we look at the Service Center Processing Dates, they mention "Now Processing Cases with Receipt Notice Date of".

Fedup is an understatement. Zero accountability. After moving dates to 2006 now dates go back to 2003????????? Last year it started with date being at Apr 2004 and this year starts with Apr 2003????? This is beyond ridiculous!!!aaaaaaarrrghhhhhhhhhh.
P.S Its wrong to tell that guys with MS are getting their GC's before others. I have one and so do many others I know. There is no order guys...........

I saw your post last night and have some changes in mind for the NSC letter. But right now I'm working on having the 7001 piece out from my employer - hope others are doing that as well.

Please feel free to change or modify the letter to suit your situation. Do whatever you need to do, but make sure you mail out the letter & the form soon. Also, encourage others in similar situation to take the time to mail the letters & form soon.

IV friends ,
Last week my lawyer has asked for copy of Driving License of me and my wife for filing the H1-B and H4 extension.
Then one of my friend told me that INS is asking for copy of the driving license for filing the h1-B extension.
My employer is supposed to file my 3 year Extension based on I-140 in Dec this year( Dec 2007) but my Licences expires on Sept 2008, So I will I be just getting the extension till Sept 2008 and Not 3 year extension.
Any Idea on that
I have already submitted my driving license to my lawyer.
Please Let me know because I was couting on that I will get 3 year extension this time :(

They issued me DL upto 2010 ,just last year (2006) my wife went to get photo ID she was asked two identifcation ID ,proof of legal status and proof of residence. After a few hassles she was given a photo id till Feb 2008 when her H4 expires. Frankly I see no dependency of DL duration to the extension duration. It is quite possible DL is another form of ID issued by a State authority and proved you residency. Thats my take.

I think you can also switch using your H1-B. You can still invoke Ac21 on H1-B, just that EAD makes it easier to find new employers.
moreover, you will now have to spend approx 4K on H1 renewals every year.
I can see how it will affect many people's (including mine) spouses job prospects.
Assuming it takes longer than 12 months, what are the options here? I would like to understand what AC21 says. Is having an EAD a precondition of using the AC21 provision i.e. does it say -
"an employee after 6 months of filing 485 AND having an EAD in hand can switch jobs"
or does it say
"6 months after filing 485, the employee can switch"
