I want everybody to get their GCs. but now interfiling/porting is hurting out position in the queue.
No you dont. You just want your own GC. If possible, hand delivered by the President of USA after he washes your feet.
If you are not aware, a good bunch of EB3s are now trying to interfile & port their PDs which are between 2001 - 2005 to EB2.
This will potentially put tens of thousands of people in the EB2 queue before most people in EB2 who are waiting.
These people were not eligible for EB2 when they filed their own labor.. so they should NOT BE ALLOWED TO PORT THEIR OLD PDs. Sure EB3 can Interfile .. but you will get a new PD ... the date you interfile.

This PD porting is the last "not so ethical & legal" thing after labor substitution.. that we need to Put a cork on.

am I the only one who noticed that they admitted that although FIFO is a nice idea, it's impractical (for them) and that it's NOT how they do it (but it's written all over their literature) ?
what I got from it is: they are overwhelmed, they have not real idea of what is going on in the offices and how much it cost for the agency and the country to push people out.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the "SSN Rule" is meant to keep the illegals form getting the rebate?? Ironically, a lot of them are working using "valid", although stolen, SSN numbers anyway so they'll probably still get it if the IRS doesn't have any other way of weening them out? Again, the legal immigrant community gets punished (indirectly) for the misgivings of the illegals. Just my rambling thoughts...:cool:

Although 30,000 people are IV members but when you need them except a couple of hundred you don't see anyone.
How can an organization work which can't even collect 5K a month from its members. We all are willing to spend hundreds ( sometimes thousands ) of dollars on EAD, AP , H1, labor, I-140, I-485, lawyers etc etc and don't even spend 100$ a year (yes not month - a year).

I beg to differ here. 30k+ plus people have signed up so far, but how many are active now? How many have even logged in IV in last 3 months or even 6 months? I don't see any link to discontinue membership here, so we don't know how many people up signed up and left?
There is no way to know count of "active members". Many IV members have got GC in last 2 years and they have "quitely" left IV and forgotten the struggle by EB based immigrants. How many members stay at IV after getting GC?
Many people believe that by getting EAD they are Temp GC holders and motivation for seeking any benefit is gone.
I am pained to say this, but we are a thankless community.

I think we will see a renewed activity on IV forums in 2009. I still believe visa recapture bill like HR5882 has a good chance of getting passed. It may not get passed in this congress considering how few working days are left and presidential elections in November. But in 2009 the bill should gain new momentum with new congress and new president in office.
Also, by that time EB2 dates will be again retrogressed and those impatiently waiting for their approvals today will be back to support new action items. Please don't take this as spiteful wish against EB2, I'm EB2 myself! Just that I don't think everyone who is current now will get their GC before October 2008. True, once the people realize that they are close to GC they forget all tasks and move on to the other forums (R2I or USC or whatever) there are very few who actually stay on and help add this to the fact that most of the EB3-I's got fed up with the nonsense going on (most were only looking for a sounding board to voice their dismay, instead they were reminded of the caste system). So EB2's stop working because their PD is current and EBs stop because there is little hope/chance/help. We can dissect the VB as much as we want, the fact of the matter is that EB3 as a whole and EB3 (india &China) in particular are screwed big time. There is hope in the Logfren bills but the congress seems to have other 'important' issues to discuss.
We should take the campaign to a new level move from individuals to involving groups and compaines. They have more money and power to make things move. EB3 & EB2 discussions will go on for ever, we can either decide to wallow in our sorrow or do something. Lets identify groups who can help us and write to them. Each EB should talk to his/her HR and ask them to write a letter to their congressman/Senator it will have a bigger impact.

Let's talk about how backlog has affected us or our green card process. Let's discuss, write, post here about how to ask law makers to increase visa numbers for green cards affected by retrogression. Let's ask the USCIS to revert for concurrent filing. Write about these. Write letters to editors, to law makers, to companies. Let's stay focussed. Already there is the CIR is stalled for lack of agreement between Sen. Frist and Sen. Reid.
Let's take this PD definition discussion offline, as at present this is not a goal of IV. Am I correct?

This takes the fear out of H1B workers to change jobs at will without regard to negative impact on their pending GC applications..

I don't think EB3-I would be U for more than a month, as I keep saying this year EB3 would be getting some share of spill-over. So even if it becomes U for April that would be temporarily and it would return back in May.

Pardon my intrusion here! I searched various forums but I couldn't get any solid threads on visa number because it is so common term the search always yields wrong threads! so can some one tell me..what is a visa number after filing 485? is it same a A # ? or is there another number besides A#? Do we see it on 485 reciept? if not how do I find out? I

Eg: COnsider your approval and mine..We filed for 485 in 2004.. These cases are preadjudicated and just waiting for Visa number to become avilable..Once the july bulletein came into effect(or according to rumor even before) they assigned visa numbers to all pre approved cases that were pending...AGAIN USCIS DID NOT ASSIGN VISA NUMBERS TO CASES FILED IN JUNE

Feb 07 2008 I made an infopass appointment and saw an IO he accepts my request to expedite. Finally I get a LUD saying Documents mailed to applicant on Feb 20 2008. Then on feb 21 2008 I see a soft LUD Till today I have not received the AP. Do you thinking making an infopass appointment and requesting a copy will help. The problem is I should have been in Canada on the 9th. I don't know what else to do. This is ridiculous. Gurus please an suggestions:mad: This case was filed with the Nebraska Service center.
