I thought if we dont get the EAD after 90 days, we can walk into the US Embassy in the city nearer to us and get the EAD on the spot(more like a driver's license).:eek:

I believe the majority ofthe IV members are from Indian origins. they should contact the Indian community that donated money to Hilary and ask why she voted against legal immigrants. she is preparing for her election compaign. I am sure she will answer or at least she will know that we are following her votes against us.

What does this mean for new LC applicants. My ads went out last friday and I will be filing my LC in june end. I am in my 2nd year. Any suggestions ???
please help ! Employer has been dragging his feet else i would have applied before may. But now with all these should i just change my employer who will file my LC and I-140 with a month ???

Can the members in Texas and others call on Sen. Cornyn's office and ask him to support the bill. I just called their office, and the staff says that he has no statement from the senator, and therefore has no position as of yet. I asked him about the above report, and all he offered was "no comments"
Hope IV members step up their efforts in calling the list of Senators and post their feedback on this forum. We can learn from each others feedback and bring more pressure on these legislators.
Not sure why they are so inconsistent, I called Sen. Cornyn's office an hour ago and spoke to one of his staff members, they told me Senator does not support the bill because of the issues he has will parts of the bill which provides undocumented works a path to citizenship, but we had a good a good conversation about the legal immigrants issues and potential solutions in the bill. She promised to convey my message to the senator.

If the USCSI didnt have enough applications to be assigned the VISA , then why are they so conservative in making the cutoff dates move ahead. What is the harm in pro-actively moving the cutiff dates, to amek sure no visa gets wasted.
A cut-off date avoids submission of AOS applications with PD after cut-off date. In my opinion, this was the only reason to retrogress on July 2: avoid AOS submission whose PDs became current in July.
Now nearly all AOS applications have been submitted. Hence, setting cut-off dates conservatively is not that motivating.

OK here is a question.
Person working for past 4 years in the US.
Applied LC this February (2/26/07)
wants to go to canada, work there for a year and then reenter may be next year.
According to the new point based GC system--
1) Will the person get points for the 4 years of work in the US? (those 4 years were continuous, however, the person applies for GC after the canadian break of lets say 1 year)
Person working for past 4 years in the US.

H1b and GC are sponsered by employer and they have to pay. If employer asks employee to pay the expenses then that company is not legitimate and persons should avoid joining those companies. Most reputed companies will pay all the expenses of GC and H1b. Some will ask employees to pay for dependents EAD,AP etc.
Consulting companies ask employees to pay GC and H1b if employees want to work hourly. That means employees wanted more money and they are taking risk(Also working hourly is against the H1b regulations as they have more chance for falling out of status).
I tend to disagree with that. You are partly right that H1B cost should be borne by the employer. There are DOL regulations for that you can easily find on the web.
For GC, you are partly right in the sense that only the first stage - Labor Certification should be completely borne by the employer. DOL released the regulation last year w.e.f. July 16 2007. The second and third stage however, I-140 and I-485, are of no concern. That is, there is no law which says that Employer should borne the cost for that.
