Came here in 98. Applied in 2003. Waiting ever since. Had enough of this BS. I was ok until they started screwing around with EAD's and AP's this year. Recently, got a a couple of offers in India ranging from 30 - 45 lac / yr. Thinking of going back. Its not worth waiting in this line anymore.

I do not see a reason for what they are doing. The Original July VB was in Archived Bulletins as of july 2nd. The revised one is placed in the current visa Bulletins. So why the changes? is there any diference?

Ok then, why did you come to America to study at Duke? Why did you spend all this money? The reason our people invest crores of rupees in American education is that it is better.
You people seem to be too nationalistic. Even with the comments about quotas. Affiirmative action with 52% of all seats being reserved based on caste? You call this fair?
I dont think anyone is arguing that american schools are not good enough.......they certainly are - specially with the kind of tuition fees people pay to get into these schools. Besides - people coming here for education does not necessarily mean its better - lot of people come here for the international exposure - lot of good students from around the world do indeed congregate here for education - combination of good schools, openness, english as common language....all these have contributed to the historical greatness of america - does not make your motherland any worse!
Look at quotas as a way to bring in factors other than just your score in a standardized examination.......in India that factor might be caste - here it might be affirmative action in favor of some sections of society and other subjective factors like essays, letters recommendation, the fact that you were a cheerleader in high school etc.....look, i am not saying quotas is a great system - but all i am saying is that there are shortcomings in selection systems in schools around the world not just India.

Called up Sen Casey's office and I was told that in the local office they cant do much about a mass enquiry but he volunteered to do it on a personal basis for my case in particular.

I think most of the members in this forum updated their data, at least from EB3 India I am sure. If you guys can pull data according to PD from administration console, you should be able get some valuable data to show. I wondered why this has not been done so far??? million dollar question???

I am very junior member on IV forums and have listened to all the experts and senior members on IV from time to time. Very solid ideas and very intelligent people! Although, I am not too familiar with the intricacies of what DOS said or what USCIS said; what I know is that there are many thousands of us who are here in a limbo for many many years. I think we have been "super- nice" to USCIS and Congress in the way we have approached them for our problems and rightly so - thats just us!
We have done our best educate them via lobbying efforts etc but wouldnt you agree that its time be a little more "assertive' now. Seriously, we dont know what the bigger picture is here. Year after Year, Month after month nothing moves with USCIS. Same old grim Visa Bulletin. I had written elsewhere that I dont even remember what my dates are anymore! Being in a western country or anywhere else in the world for 10-12 years is a long time. The culture, the enviroment and the system grows on you. Most of us left from India or elsewhere, when we were in our mid 20s . As young adults most of were explorers - soaking information, knowledge, new skills etc as we embarked on our journey to settle down in a foreign country. I think its fair to say that most of us have actually acquired our adult wisdom here. What I am getting to, is that when people talk about packing their bags and going back home - it may only be easier said than done!
I am not an expert at this but I believe we may have to come together again and we will need more visibility - maybe a six month long agressive assertive campaign - letters, flowers, rally and more all together so that we can catch congress' attention. It seems like legislation is the only way out here. Again, please pardon my inability to comprehend issues correctly, if I am wrong in saying so, but if we continue to rely on visa bulletins and USCIS; nothing is going to happen. i don't think going to local office is going to help. be patient you should get it. In my case it took almost 4 weeks since it got approved to physically receive AP. Although I don't know how long my lawyer held it prior to mailing it to me.

I don't think so, all centers which handle 485s will look at the application delivered date as the the RD.

I can't port to EB2, as my education is combinational (Diploma + AMIE), not 4-year single degree.

Pappu excellent post full of true facts. Being smart in my opinion means being knowledgeable and aware of the current situation at any given point of time rather than being ignorant and indifferent. Most of the time doing some basic research can lead an individual to the right option that is legally consistent and correct, it�s really never too late to correct course. Yes there will be street smart people (Sub labor being one example) who will game the system but besides other things let�s accept that they know how things work. Life is about learning and then What Next? It�s really about continuous improvement and trying to move in the right direction. Not having the desired end result is fine but not doing anything or not trying is bad. Very nice and motivating stories from some of the veteran�s you give us the motivation to hang on. OP you seem to have started a nice discussion.

You maybe right. Visa numbers are being wasted because of the pressure being put by people wanting their notices. So many people are calling everyday distracting the USCIS employees. Intead of blaming USCIS for it, tracker thread people should also introspect and also be willing to share some of the blame. :D

They could have done this and re-captured visas with additional fees or whatever. And called it greencard fraud fees it that makes them happy. But the fact is they did not want to do anything to give relief to Immigrants. Recapture (hundreds of thousands of visas) would have significantly helped helped retrogressed countries like EB3 India, China, ROW and EB2 India China. They can take additional fees as long as we know the recapture is being done.
Just looking at the employment based inventory statistics, if every applicant were charged $2000 for visa recapture, it is close to $400M for uncle sam. All EB backlogs would be eliminated, new immigrants would continue contributing to Social security, pay taxes, buy new homes, invest etc... Cant they see the potential upside to this?

am I the only one who noticed that they admitted that although FIFO is a nice idea, it's impractical (for them) and that it's NOT how they do it (but it's written all over their literature) ?
what I got from it is: they are overwhelmed, they have not real idea of what is going on in the offices and how much it cost for the agency and the country to push people out.

I dont understand your H4 expiry date shoud be tied to your husbands H1 date. So if your DL expires then automatically his DL should also have expired.

I'm a desperate house spouse(H4) and now not only I can't work but I can't drive either because the current visa expires on May 10 and the new extension is not here yet. The folks at DMV didn't wanna give an extension for the DL unless I bring a new I 94. Now the poor H1 has to do 2 jobs
1. work his but off at work to get GC
2. drive the kids up and down, do the shopping, etc etc because the desperate h4 can't move a finger.
Anyone in the same barrel?
