I tried to stop myself from posting on this thread since it's based on one guy's circumstances and though I feel sorry for him ( the same way I feel sorry for all the wives and their families being extorted huge sum of money in the name of marriage ) , it's hard to judge these things knowing only one side of the story.
To each his own , but do you think your parents spent their whole lives bringing you up only to know that you think it's "legally" not right to help them monetarily ???? I guess, they should have not spent that extra money to send you to a good school/college or spend it on your tution classes and kicked you out of their house once you reach the age of 18 , like some parents do here ??? Man, it's hard for me to imagine how one can think like that about their parents.

Looks like they are changing the spillover rules again from Horizontal to Vertical this is bad news for EB2 I
Because the spillover projection is given only for EB2(China and India). This is due to fact that only EB2-Row is current due to which there is a possbility of spillover which flows to China and India and not to EB3-Row(if it was vertical).

That is not true. Receipt Date is when the service center physically receives the package. They date stamp it and then use it to enter that RD when they generate the Notice on the ND.
What you see on the status page for sure reflects the ND and NOT the RD. So you can pretty much ignore what the status page says and rely on what your physical notice says (it states the actual RD when they physically received the package!)
Hope this is a clear explanation.

Excellent Idea IFFF and ONLY IFFF we are doing it With the actual intent of providing education to the under-priviledged. Otherwise, once immigrants' voices are heard, and relief comes through, guess what will happen? These coaching classes will stop dead in their tracks. This will attract NEGATIVE publicity sending a message that the so called "Volunteer Effort" was nothing but a PUBLICITY STUNT.

This is so out of whack. Employment based green card issue is not about India or Indians. Our issue is about America and us i.e. highly skilled people from all countries waiting for their green cards. STOP BRANDING EMPLOYMENT BASED GREEN CARD AS "INDIA ISSUE". Such an attitude doesn't help at all and it is a big turn-off for people from other countries. Let’s be mature about solutions to the issue.
Also, people who give money to campaigns - Hillary, Obama or any other candidates, they are not giving the money to change any policy for getting green cards sooner for employment based categories. Our issue is not even on the radar screen of most "ethnic communities". And problem gets worst when news media, people like Lou Dobbs try to misguide the general public with their hate mongering propaganda - again with the objective to increase the value of his own stock. Often times Lou Dobbs will try to make it all look like "conspiracy theory" being hatched against American middle class - just to get their attention. For example Lou says that people from Indian American community are contributing to Hillary to promote outsourcing????? Hello!!!! Who is in the world is idiot enough NOT to believe that increased outsourcing affects everybody in US, including Indian-Americans. Sometimes news media will call Hillary as senator from the state of Punjab and other similar bull shit but catchy news items. The way system works, anybody who is ready to give $1000 for a campaign can get their pictures with the "POLITICIAN", especially during campaign season. And these photo-ops freaks do not care about anybody other than them self. Therefore, the so called "indian lobby" exist only in the imagination of people who read news articles that are written by paid journalists.
About Cornyn amendment, this was clearly a party line vote. It had nothing to do with the position of a Senator on the issue. Did you notice that Sen. Grassley voted in favor of the SKIL bill? Anybody knows why???? As most people here may already know, Sen. worked overtime to derail the CIR. Because of that, leaders of the Democratic party in the Senate are upset with him on immigration issue. And thus, most democrats voted to oppose Cornyn’s proposal. That is how things work in the Senate – which is no different than the way things work at the any other workplace. Vote on Cornyn amendment had nothing to do with the stand of a Senator on an issue.
So, it is ok if Conryn amendment did not go through – “this time”. There will be more opportunities in the future. The thing is, Democratic Senators like Cantwell need to lead in pushing EB provisions. That may help to easy out the partisan vote on such proposals in the future.
Just my take on the situation.

That is true and IV core member Nixtor had given details about this visa movement more than a month ago in the all state chapter conference call. This call was strictly for state chapter members of all states. IV core has been meeting DOS and USCIS regularly to find solution to the problems our members have been facing.
Pls take part in the call campaign and contribute funds to be able to find relief.

For sure DoS knew that something is wrong at USCIS end. Looks like they dint get along well on this one. So instead of saying that all the visa numbers has been used up, they said " all the entire 2007 numbers has been made available". Which means they know very well USCIS are still processing the cases, even after July 2nd.
Looks like, DOS trying to clean their hands and put the blame on USCIS.
This is what happened. Again my thoughts based on last fews days before the july 2nd.
USCIS was angered by DOS making it current for all categories. Every one knows there will be a minimum 100K apps flooding their gates. Imagine the revenue loss for them just bcoz of making it current b4 30th july. They expected DOS to make it current from Aug 1st instead of July 1st. Had the immigration bill passed, as promised by the GOVT., they would have stand to gain $4B in grants to secure the border. But the bill crashed on 27th of june. So what do they do to stop this loss of revenue from our application. They have to use of the entire fiscal 2007 quota in three days so that legally they can't accept more applications. Now that is legally correct. But they way they claimed all the visas within 4 days wasn't played by the rules and where the AILF stands chance to file a lawsuit against them.

In my case; I was offered a refinancing rate that was 0.5% more than what I would pay if I were a GC holder. The reasoning is the short term validity of H1. Ironically I wasn't discriminated 3 years ago when I bought my house. At that time; I even didn't have my labor cert cleared. Now 3 years down the line; I have cleared first 2 stages and applied to I-485; bank charges me more :) Weird!!!!

Losses suffered by illegal immigrants and H1B-GC people fuels US economy (or at least contributes to that). My contributions so far might have been above half a millions. Indirect beneficiaris are top most companies.

I think USCIS might be busy with approving I485 cases of EB2-India/China. From October it might be on track. For most of cases, approving I140 immediately is not going to help applicant as he has to wait for I485 as per priority date.

Even if you are RN licenes and educated in the USA. You still need a visa screen. I had to apply for visa screen. In my case it took only 1 week to get it. you can apply on line and send your documents. I'm not sure about the EAD though. YOu may wwant to post your question on the free Consultaion thread.
